- Before Your Waxing Treatment For the best long-lasting results, it is recommended to exfoliate and moisturise your skin every other day using an exfoliating mitt or brush, which can be purchased from me if you wish. By regularly removing the top layer of dead skin cells, you allow your hairs to grow through the skin unimpeded and avoid ingrowing hairs. Avoid sun tanning, saunas, steam baths and hot tubs for 24 hours prior to waxing so the skin is calm and cool. Your hair needs to be at least 1cm long for efficient waxing. If it is shorter than this, hairs will be left behind and you won’t receive the best results possible. Ladies, waxing is more comfortable if you aren’t pre-menstrual or in the first days of your period, so if you can, please avoid waxing at this time of the month as your skin will be more sensitive.
- After Your Waxing Treatment Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if this is your first wax. These symptoms usually pass over the next 24-48 hours following your treatment. Please do contact me in you experience any persistent redness or irritation. Please keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the next 24-48 hours. This means * No hot baths or showers – lukewarm is fine
* No tanning – sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans
* No sport, gym or other vigorous exercise
* No swimming in chlorinated pools or the sea
* Avoid touching or scratching the treated area
* Wear clean, loose fitting clothes.
- You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a cycle that gives the best results. Please do not shave, tweezers or use hair removal creams between appointments as this interrupts the hairs natural growth cycle. To maintain your smooth appearance, regular waxing every 4-6 weeks, or when necessary to remain hair-free, is recommended.
